New Lenses from Tamron
By Arnold Zafra
Tamron have announced a range of new lenses including their new SP AF70-200mm Di LD (IF) MACRO and a SP AF 10-24MM F/3.5-4.5 DI II LD Aspherical (IF) ultra wide angle zoom which is currently under development.
The new SP AF70-200mm Di LD (IF) MACRO is designed for full-size format SLR cameras. It has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.95m (37.4) over the entire zoom range; a maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at 200mm and an internal focusing system.
The filter diameter is only 77mm while the lens weighs only 1,112.6 grams.
The models for Nikon and Canon cameras are also equipped with AF/MF switchover mechanisms to allow switchover from AF mode to MF mode or vice versa electronically and mechanically by simply sliding the button.
Sony and Pentax systems require AF/MF switchover operation on both the camera and lens. Since the lens uses an IF (internal focusing) system, the focusing ring does not rotate during focusing.
The lens is also supplied with a lightweight aluminium removable tripod socket.
The SP AF 10-24MM F/3.5-4.5 DI II LD Aspherical (IF) is designed for APS-C sensors and Tamron claim the performance will exceed its current 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 zoom lens.
The design incorporates glass materials and aspherical elements that will minimize aberrations.
