Ricoh has launched the Ricoh R8, a 10MP compact with zoom lens covering the 35mm equivalent of 28-200mm with vibration correction and 1cm macro.It also features face recognition, snap focus, the ability to step the zoom to specified focal lengths and the 1:1 picture ratio that has proven popular in Ricoh’s GX100 and GRD II models.

The new R8 also combines a new 10 megapixel CCD with their Smooth Imaging Engine III image processing engine to ensure high resolution and low noise.

It also features a high resolution 460 000 pixel LCD 2.7 inch screen, fixed minimum aperture function for increased depth of field and in camera image editing functions.
