DigiLive DDV-JF1 is a camcorder with a built-in projector

Video cameras are great for capturing all your favorite memories, but in most cases you have to have a television or other display around in order to share those memories stored on your camcorder with others. The DigiLife DDV-JF1 records high-definition video, but it can also project that video onto the wall so others can see it as well.
The camcorder has a built-in pico projector that allows it to project a 640 x 360 resolution image onto any wall. While the video won’t exactly be in HD, it’s amazing to see a projector and high-definition camcorder put together into a device so small.
The DigiLife DDV-JF1 looks to be about the size of the popular Flip Video camcorders which means you could carry it around in a pocket or purse fairly easily. Not a bad size at all for a video camera AND a player as well.
Currently the device is set to have a release only in Asia (which seems to be the trend with all the coolest gadgets). Since the technology is apparently there, it will be interesting to see if other camcorder manufacturers follow suit and start putting projectors in their camcorders as well.
Pico projectors are also relatively expensive, or at least expensive enough that they would add a significant cost to what would otherwise be a $200 camera. I’m not sure people would be willing to take on the additional cost just for the ability of projecting a relatively sub-par image while they’re on-the-go. It would be great to see a higher resolution projector make it’s way onto camcorders, as well as projectors to start becoming a standard on some nicer higher-end camcorders.
What do you think about adding projectors to camcorders? Would you consider purchasing one of these if it was available in stores?
